Clean energy economy
Green energy future
In North America we are just beginning a transition to a low-carbon, clean energy economy. In the near future we will have to use less overall energy, and will rely on renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power. We need to transition to this green energy economy not only in order to tackle global warming, but also to reduce our addiction to oil and to build new, sustainable industries at home.

Actualizing change
To kick-start our new green energy economy, we need laws and policies that will spur investment in renewable energy, require big industries to reduce their global warming pollution and mandate more energy efficient buildings, products and transportation systems. Governments need to put these in place.
A lasting economic recovery will require a low-carbon economy that creates green jobs in North America. This is already underway in some places in the world. For example
- Ontario estimates that 50,000 new jobs will be created over the next three years as a result of green energy development;
- Germany has created 250,000 new green jobs in renewable energy.
Security for the next generations
Left unchecked, global warming will mean that our children inherit a dangerous planet. Our security and economic prosperity depend on actions that governments need to take now to end our addiction to oil.
We are working with other organizations to push our governments to adopt the needed policies for a low-carbon green energy economy. With vision and leadership, a more sustainable economy and world are possible.
